As is with most sites, here is a list of web sites that are recommended based on their content, as well as our personal preferences of what where we go when we are surfing the Internet.

Acadians in Gray:  This site is a must for researching most southern Louisiana units, as well as for searching for soldiers with Acadian surnames.  The site is well documented and the soldiers names are cross-indexed with their units to make searching out a possible ancestor as easy as it can get.  Even if you are not Acadian, it is a good site to go see.

W.T. Block, Historian:  I found this website on accident, and am I glad that accidents happen.  I never knew why people would inhabit such a desolate area that is the marshlands of Southwestern Louisiana, but his history provides insight into the people who settled and lived there, as well as some stories that are riveting.  He is a wealth of knowledge for that small part of the world that contains the "Cajun Riviera" and other lesser known attractions.

7th Louisiana Cavalry page:  While I try to provide information about the units, there are those who devote all their time to one unit.  This site gives the history of the people of the 7th, as well as locations of many CSA gravesites in south Louisiana.

18th Louisiana Infantry:  A wealth of information on this unit, as well as some information on others that were joined with the 18th.  This site has inputs from the descendants of these soldiers that give more information than you would typically see in a unit webpage.
